Treatment

The Bucket List
The Bucket List is a student animation to be created by solely myself (James Hardman-Cobb). It is a motion graphic about the things we want to do before we die.

The Bucket List functions not as a narrative but rather as a concept of sorts. The goal of the video is to get the audience to reflect on what items are on their lists. This will be achieved through animated versions of the list items with careful consideration of transitions between items. The video will end with a shot of the words, Whats on Yours?

As mentioned earlier TBL follows motion graphic styling. What I mean by this is that colors will be sharp and blending will be smooth. Objects will be simplified down to their most important elements. Some of the pictures below illustrate a similar style to what I am going for.
The First two are from the blog of WeThinkThings
The Second two are from Colin Hesterlys World of Motion.

Both have a simpler style with very nice color flow. I will post some videos at the end of the treatment as well. The character is a blank icon that will have different items of clothing in various shots or list items.
As far as technical aspects go, the video will make use of After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, and either Flash or ToonBoom. The latter two programs will be used for character animation, Whereas everything else will be used for objects and background. Each list item will be broken down into its own scene lasting roughly 10 seconds although these times will be adjusted for more complex list items.
Audio will comprise of a background music track that matches the feel-good tone of the video. I would like to match the audio to the animation in a similar method to the World of Motion video although that will be a secondary concern for now
Costs will be minimal for I will be using software available in the edit lab although I may purchase the ToonBoom program that Professor Silva mentioned.
The Bucket List is a short animation focusing on the things we want to do before we die. It is primarily focused on visuals and the transitions between visuals. The audio will be a simple feel good song to complement the graphics.
